Horses and Hope Cancer Screening Van

Former First Lady Jane Beshear created a public-private partnership with UofL Health Brown Cancer Center, KentuckyOne Health, the University of Louisville, and the Kentucky Cancer Program to raise $1 million for a new Horses and Hopesm Cancer Screening Van.  The vision was to create a mobile cancer screening and education van that would go beyond breast cancer to serve both women and men.  It is equipped to deliver mobile mammography along with services for other cancers including cervical, colon, lung, prostate, skin, and head/neck.  In addition to cancer prevention and early detection services, patients will be navigated to local resources for care and support.

The program will be supported by the Kentucky Cancer Program's statewide network of cancer control specialists and in partnership with local health care providers, government agencies, and community organizations.

Thanks to the generosity of Kentucky's signature horse industry, corporations, health care organizations, and friends of Horses and Hope the vision has become a reality.
