Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer (KAAAC)

The Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer (KAAAC) is a volunteer group of concerned citizens and health care providers seeking to reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of cancer in the African American population of Kentucky. Sponsored by the Kentucky Cancer Program, University of Louisville, the coalition was established in 1990. The goals are to:

Provide information on cancer to the community.

Coordinate education/screening programs for the prevention and early detection of cancer.

Link the public to cancer services in the community.

Monitor cancer incidence.

KAAAC is a part of the National Black Leadership Initiative On Cancer, which is the outreach program of the National Cancer Institute.

 

KCP's Coordinator for African American outreach programs works with coalition members to coordinate special events throughout the year for cancer prevention and early detection including health fairs, church programs, community festivals, radio and television shows, professional conferences, and school programs.
