The Harriett B. Porter Cancer Education and Research Endowment was
established in 2004 by Woodford Porter and his family at the University
of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
Proceeds from the $250,000 gift are used to fund community outreach
programs in Louisville’s African American community to reduce cancer
health disparities, as well as to support research that may someday
help find a cure for cancer. Programs are funded by proceeds from the Red and Black Ball…For The Love of Harriett held each winter to raise money for the Harriett B. Porter Cancer Education and Research Endowment. Harriett Porter, a cancer survivor, reached out to African Americans in our community who had been diagnosed with this life-threatening disease. Her goal was to empower others through information and support. To keep that legacy alive, special outreach programs have been implemented in her memory.
Tax-deductible contributions to support these special programs can be made to the Harriett B. Porter Cancer Education and Research Endowment, James Graham Brown Cancer Center, 529 S. Jackson Street, Louisville, KY 40202 |
